'Wine & Whiskers' Raises Funds For Shelter

Yankton’s Heartland Humane Society celebrated with their annual Wine & Whiskers Saturday night at Minerva’s in Yankton.
The event brought more than 300 people together to raise funds for the local animal shelter. To date, the shelter has helped over 260 animals this year, double the number they helped in 2011.
Every year, the event raises over 35% of funds for the year. Executive Director Kerry Schmidt said she expected to net $38,000 at the event. For more information, visit www.heartlandhumanesociety.net.
