Iowan Arrested In Sioux City Bank Robbery

Bookmark and Share

A 26-year-old man has been accused of robbing a bank in Sioux City.

Online court records say Johnnie Hawkins Jr. faces robbery, assault and firearms charges in connection with the robbery on Saturday morning at Heritage Bank.

Authorities say Hawkins flashed a handgun as he confronted an employee while she was opening the bank.

Police say Hawkins was arrested later Saturday in Sergeant Bluff. The bank money and a handgun were recovered.

A Woodbury County jailer said Hawkins remained in custody on Monday, pending bail of $102,000. Online court records don't list the name of his attorney.
