Police say an 8-year-old Sioux Falls girl was killed in a car crash Thursday night in Western Sioux Falls.
Officials say an off-duty police officer witnessed a 2009 Toyota Camry driving on West 26th Street veer off into a field near the intersection with Discovery Avenue, drive through a chain-link fence, and into a 35 foot trailer at a construction site around 7:40 p.m.
Police say it appears the driver of the vehicle, Michelle Lee, had a medical issue that caused her to blackout while she was driving. Lee, who is the girls' mother, was treated for injuries and released.
Police have not released the name of the girl.
The trailer was at the construction site for the Westside Library.
