Fire Damages Home in Southwest Sioux Falls

A fire damaged a home in Southwest Sioux Falls Friday night.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue says they were called to the house at 6113 W. Bakker Park Drive shortly before 9:30 p.m.

When they arrived, there was smoke and flames coming from the home. According to Fire Rescue, the fire started on the deck at thr back of the home and burned up the side of the house.

It eventually extended into the attic, so firefighters were forced to open up the ceiling in order to attack the interior portion of the blaze. A total of 17 firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and worked to control hot spots in the ceiling.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
