Warner's perfect season earns KDLT's Athlete of the Week

When you hear the word perfect in a sports you may think of a perfect game as in baseball, our scoring a perfect 300 in bowling. There are many perfect seasons for various teams, but the Warner volleyball team take the word perfect to a new level.

"Our first of all goal was to win the state title and we thought it would be definitely be nice to not to drop a set to anybody," said Rachel Rogers of the Warner volleyball team.

Not losing one match all season long is one thing, but staying perfect and recording a 90-0 record in sets in one season, not even dropping one.

"I don't know if that has ever been done, but that's a goal we wanted to have and we accomplished it," said Rogers.

"You know it is and for volleyball there are so many ups and downs and to stay focused like they do and to be able to not have one set that they lost all season is truly amazing and we tried to fight back and and to get some passes up there, but those balls just go down so hard and so congratulations to them on their championship," said Anita Boeck, Head Coach of the Arlington volleyball team, after losing 3-0 to Warner in the State B Championship.

"Going in that really wasn't our goal. We just tried to win and it just happened that way. Going into tonight, the girls said they wanted to go without losing a set and I said girls we to just win and they said we're going to do it. They just were so focused, it was so awesome. I'm so proud of them," said Warner's Head Coach Kari Jung.

"We have so many talented players. I mean from any angle we're so, we can get a kill from anywhere. There's all of us are so skilled and we are such a unit, we work together really well," said Rogers.

The saying is "There is no where to go but up," but where is up for this Warner team?

"I don't know if we can really build on it, we'll just try to use it as a model for the younger players. Something for them to shoot for," said Jung.

Hoping perfect, sticks around for another season.
