A group called ‘Citizens for Snow Gates’ presented the city clerk with hundreds of petitions Tuesday at Carnegie Town Hall. The hope is to have residents of Sioux Falls be able to vote on whether or not snow gates should be used in every neighborhood.
The group’s goal was to get over 5,000 signatures. Tuesday, they turned in the over 8,000 signatures they got in two months.
This winter, only six areas of Sioux Falls will use snow gates.
"They've been tested for two years and people love these things. And they really improve the quality of life for all the citizens of our city,” said Theresa Stehly, Chairwoman of Citizens for Snow Gates.
The Sioux Falls City Council will put the issue to a vote. If they vote yes, the issue will be on a ballot in May’s School Board Elections.
