Former Gov. Mike Rounds will announce Thursday whether or not he will run for U.S. Senate in 2014.
The Republican has three events scheduled Thursday in Pierre, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls. He formed an exploratory committee to look into a possible candidacy in Sept.
To date, Rounds is the only candidate to publicly express interest in seat. It is currently held by Sen. Tim Johnson, who has represented South Dakota in Congress since 1986. He has not yet announced whether he will seek a fourth term.
Rounds served two terms as governor of South Dakota, from 2003 to 2009.
