South Dakota Senator John Thune says he’s still hopeful congress can come to an agreement to avoid going over the “fiscal cliff.
Thune says while Republicans are willing to make concessions, the real key will be President Obama’s leadership in forging an agreement to avoid automatic tax increases and spending cuts.
Thune agrees with Congresswoman Kristi Noem that the stalled farm bill could pass as part of a compromise because it makes spending cuts. He says he believes that’s the only way a new farm bill would pass by the end of the year.
