SDSU Fans Prepare For Game

Bookmark and Share

Hundreds of South Dakota State Fans are preparing to head to Fargo on Saturday for the the big match up against North Dakota State. At the SDSU campus bookstore on Friday dozens of fans stocked up on game day gear.

“Everybody wants to wear SDSU gear and back the Jacks and this is the best place to do it right here," said SDSU Senior and bookstore sales associate, Joe Donahoe.

In honor of the 100th game against NDSU, SDSU fans went all out.

“Might as well go big, go blue and go Jacks!" said Donahoe.

Over 600 fans are making the 3 ½ hour trip north to see both teams go head-to-head in their second match up this year.

“We're leaving in the morning to go up to Fargo, so yes it will be pretty fun!" said SDSU Junior, Emily Endres.

For students like Endres, the long journey will be well worth it.

“I think just the SDSU pride will be super fun just to be a part of the big game and it's a part of history so it will be super cool,” said Endres.

While a lot of people are going out, buying gear and getting ready for the game others spent Friday sitting around and wishing that they could make the trip too.

“Unfortunately I'm not going to the game. I tried to get tickets for it but they were sold out within 30 minutes when I tried to get them on Monday," said SDSU Senior, Boateng Akyeampong.

Only 600 tickets were allotted for Saturday's match up at NDSU's 19,000 seat Fargo Dome, with the priority going to season ticket holders. Even then, there still didn't seem to be enough to go around.

"We had friends who had the season tickets and they tried to get them for us but they were sold out right away,” said SDSU Junior, Jacob Pecenka.

Ticket or not, SDSU fans are still determined to watch their team hopefully score big.

“We'll probably go down to Cubby’s and watch the game and enjoy it. We'll be there in spirit at least,” said Pecenka.

Saturday's game will be the first time the two rivals will meet in the playoffs for football. The game kicks off at 3 P.M.
