Weekend Snow Totals

What a wild weather weekend it has been. This is the first weekend in a long time that was consumed by something weather related other then the drought. In fact, this was desperately needed moisture. Many areas received at least a little snow, but parts of South Dakota and Minnesota racked up more then a foot. The heaviest of this snow was right through the highway 14 corridor like predicted with widespread amounts of 5 to 10 inches. Even though the snow made life difficult for travelers, it was the wind that made it next to impossible to get around, especially north of I-90. Doesn’t mean some didn’t try as ditches along major highways and interstates were littered with cars that slid off the roads. Parts of I-90 and I-29 remain closed on your Sunday and are not likely to open till sometime Monday morning. Below is a look back at some of the images from the first blizzard of the 2012-2013 winter season including safetravelusa cams, viewer pictures, snow totals, and peak wind gusts. Enjoy!!     (What it looked like in the heart of the blizzard just a few miles south of Brooking on Interstate 29. Traffic came to a stand still because of white out conditions.)
