USD Falls in Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis.—Alec Brown scored a game-high 19 points and teammate Keifer Sykes added 17 to help Green Bay to a 72-55 win against South Dakota Saturday at the Resch Center. The Phoenix shot 56 percent from the field to improve to 5-7.

 

South Dakota (5-8) got 18 points from Trevor Gruis and 15 from Juevol Myles but fell to 0-5 in road games this season. The Coyotes shot 40 percent from the field including a 6 of 18 effort from three-point range.

 

Green Bay used a 15-2 run in the first half and a 12-2 run in the second half to build its lead. The Phoenix led 35-25 at halftime and maintained a double-digit lead for much of the second half.

 

Brown had 12 points in the first half and finished two rebounds shy of a double-double. Sykes had 12 points in the second half and finished two assists shy of a double-double.

 

Gruis scored in double figures for the first time in three games and made 8 of 11 from the field. USD guard Brandon Bos made a 3-pointer for the eighth consecutive game and finished with eight points.
