It's the final days of the holiday shopping season. As always, last minute shoppers are swarming malls across the country and the Empire Mall in Sioux Falls is no exception.
“I'm always going until the last minute. It doesn't matter how early I start, I'm still doing it the last minute," said Kaye Bkorkman of Burbank. She was shopping for gifts for her granddaughter.
“It's busy! I was surprised at how many people were out here. My husband hates crowds. He's like let's get in here and get done and go home!" said Tiffany Peters of Brandon.
Peters and her family spent the day at the mall on Sunday grabbing some last minute gifts for her little one. But her idea of a quick shopping trip didn't turn out quite as planned.
“My daughter is a year-old so we keep finding things that she wants. So a five minute trip turns into a half hour trip every store!" said Peters.
Mark Bane and his family traveled all the way from North Dakota to brave the crowded aisles of the mall.
“We try and get most of it done, but we live in a real rural area so sometimes we do last minute because we don't get to town that often," said Bane.
With three girls in tow, he knew he had a long day ahead of him.
“It's a little trying sometimes but you have to have patience as a father and a husband, but it's worth it,” said Bane.
The Empire Mall will be open on Christmas Eve from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. if you need to pick up any last minute items.
