While some are nestled up near the fireplace this Christmas, others are hitting the slopes.
Area ski resorts say Christmas Eve and Day is a great day to ski and more and more people have caught on to the tradition. The general manager at Terry Peak says a lot of people get new equipment and want to hit the slopes to use it. The ski school director at Ski Mystic says they see a lot of families this time of year.
Leland Leichtmam from Fairmont, Minnesota says, "Well I think we've just tried to start a different tradition rather than just staying at home and we also have some family from Wyoming and it's kind of a good meeting spot for us out here and we love the Black Hills and enjoying all the fun things there is to do out here."
Devin Garza from Belle Fourche says, "Well it's fun and then we get to go home and open presents and it's just a fun day I guess."
Both Terry Peak and Ski Mystic at Deer Mountain have no snow from Mother Nature so far this year, all the snow people have been enjoying is man-made.
