Thursday brought light but steady snow through the evening and overnight. Some areas desperately in need of moisture saw some great snow totals.

Snow Totals in South Dakota were the heaviest along the Missouri River Valley in the extreme south east.

South West Minnesota Snow Totals:

North West Iowa Snow Totals:

So far this year Sioux Falls is around two and a half inches below normal for snow fall but totals are still doing much better than the year before. For the entire winter of 2011-2012 Sioux Falls only saw slightly less than 16 inches while this year we are doing fairly well at 13.6 inches. We still have quite the deficit of precipitation for the year and our entire area still remains in a very extreme drought.
