Whether it's scoring, running the pick and roll or breaking down a 2-3 defense, Augustana's Cameron McCaffrey has the skills to run the point.
"Cam's a special player. I actually came the year before him, I red shirted my first year. Even his visit here he showed a lot of confidence. That's how Cam is. He just plays with a lot of confidence," said teammate Leif Nomeland.
"I just try to lead by example and I also try to bring a sense of calm to all these young guys. Things start getting a little hectic, I remember when I was a freshman, a sophomore, if the games started to get out of control, it's tough if you don't have someone there telling you it's okay, just relax. We can grind it out," said guard Cameron McCaffrey.
A leader on the court and a role model for younger players.
"He's humble. He's done a great job of teaching. He's bringing these young kids along. At the end of games he's just saying give me the ball and that's what he should do," said Tom Billeter, head coach.
Trustworthy hands with the ball on offense as well with out it on defense, Cam's earned the trust of his team mates as well as Coach.
"Cam is the only one holding Cam back because I've told him he can shoot anytime he wants. So he's playing for the right head coach because I've never told him to not take a shot," said Billeter, "Cam pretty much has a green light and has since he stepped on this campus four years ago. He's a prolific scorer, he's always been, has been his whole career and he'll continue to throughout this year I hope because we need it," said Billeter.
"He knows what he can do with his abilities and everything like that. We're obviously very lucky to have him and very happy to have him" said Nomeland.
Scoring, leading and succeeding.
