It’s been a good competition, but only one department could win.
Coming into Friday the Sioux Falls Fire Rescue had a lead on the Sioux Falls Police Department in the “Heroes Behind The Badges” blood drive.
Friday was the last day to give blood for the competition, which was held at the Law Enforcement Center in downtown Sioux Falls. And the police department was hoping the location would give them the edge.
After being behind most of the competition the police took home the title for most pints donated with 519, compared to the fire rescue’s 495 pints.
As the winner, $350 will go to the charity of their choice, which is The Special Olympics of South Dakota. $150 will go to the fire rescue’s charity, The Children’s Home Society.
