South Dakota’s Attorney General is well aware of the challenges faced by the state’s prison system.
That’s why Marty Jackley is looking to state lawmakers to update South Dakota’s criminal justice codes.
For instance, Jackley would like tougher laws regarding juveniles convicted or murder, and corrections officers convicted of sex crimes.
Jackley is also pushing for more open government, the creation of drug and alcohol courts, and clearer legislation concerning synthetic drugs.
He will work with lawmakers to flush out the bills and get them passed.
