The escape of an inmate in Huron sent the city into alert, including the schools.
All seven school buildings in the city were on lockdown Tuesday.
Those entering were required to show identification of some kind before getting in.
School officials say their goal was to keep all 900 students as safe as possible, but make it feel like a normal school day.
Officials say school will be back to normal tomorrow.
