Over the past eight years, the Tour De Kota has been an annual tradition for cyclists in the Sioux Empire and beyond.
But Wednesday organizers announced a few changes that will take place with this year’s event. The event will now be called Tour Sioux Falls.
The first day of the event will take place along the fully opened Sioux Falls bike trail. Participants will be able to ride along and stop at the different parks along the trail for fun family activities.
Mayor Mike Huether hopes this event will continue to encourage people to adopt healthier, active transportation habits.
The second day of the event, the city will hold it’s first ever cyclovia, which is Spanish for “open city streets to bicycles”. That event started in Colombia.
The Tour Sioux Falls event is scheduled for June 29 and June 30.
