Skyforce Outlasts Legends In Overtime

Sioux Falls, S.D.– The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Texas Legends 106-101 in overtime Friday night. Mike Davis tipped in a missed lay-up by Demetris Nichols with 1.7 seconds left in regulation to tie the game and Sioux Falls outscored the visitors 10-5 in the extra session to pick up the victory.

Sioux Falls (12-10) jumped out to a 12-4 lead but only led by two points (28-26) after the first quarter. Both teams struggled from the field in the second     quarter as Sioux Falls shot 33.3 percent (5-of-15) and Texas shot 38.1 percent (8-of-21). Texas (11-9) led 44-43 at halftime.

Sioux Falls led 69-64 with just over two minutes to go in the third quarter but Texas went on a 7-2 spurt to tie the game at 71 apiece headed into the fourth. Texas rattled off eight straight points to begin the fourth but Sioux Falls tied the game at 84-all following a dunk by Miami HEAT assignee Dexter Pittman. Darius Rice hit a 3-pointer with 2:28 to go to give the visitors a 94-88 lead but Sioux Falls ended the game on an 8-2 run to force an extra session. Sioux Falls held Texas to 25.0 percent shooting (2-of-8) in overtime and improved to .500 (6-6) at home with the win.

Nichols posted 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists to lead the Skyforce. Pittman recorded a double-double with a season-high 21 points and 12 rebounds while Mike Davis and Gabe Pruitt added 16 points each.

Chris Roberts scored a team-high 24 points to go along with six rebounds. Darius Rice score 17 points behind 5-of-11 3-pointers and Sean Williams added 16 points, seven rebounds and four blocks off the bench.

The same two teams tangle at the Sioux Falls Arena tomorrow night at 7 p.m. CT.
