Funeral services are being held in Brookings Thursday morning for former South Dakota State men's basketball coach Jim Marking, who died last weekend.
Marking's teams won four North Central Conference titles and earned five NCAA tournament berths. His high school teams at Hayti and Watertown also won state championships.
Former player and assistant coach Gene Zulk says Marking was known for high school and college basketball around the state.
He says Marking wanted student-athletes to have a good place to attend, and receive a top-notch education.
