The Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation Department is taking a deeper look into the city's aquatics program.
During a focus group meeting Thursday night, the city brought in a national aquatics consultant to create a citywide aquatics master plan, which will be used as a ten-year road map for both current and future water facilities.
Interested people at the meeting talked about wanting more competitive swimming pools, indoor aquatic facilities and pools with attractive features like wave pools.
"It's really an opportunity for us to look at all the aquatic facilities we have in our community, evaluate their condition and make recommendations for them, but also to look at future facilities, what kind of facilities do we need in the next 10 years," said Don Kearney, Parks And Recreation Director.
Now, a master plan will be put together based on the public's input and a final draft is expected to be finished in March.
