SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – No. 19-ranked Augustana saw its 10-match home conference winning streak come to an end on Friday night after a 19-12 loss to No. 1-ranked St. Cloud State University. Augustana (7-4, 2-1 NSIC) won three straight bouts at 141, 149 and 157 pounds but the Huskies (16-0, 3-0 NSIC) won four of the final five bouts to pull away with the win.

Augustana’s last home conference loss was at the hands of St. Cloud State on Feb. 6, 2009.

The night started off with a hard-fought bout at 125 pounds with St. Cloud State’s Eric Forde, who is ranked seventh in the country, picking up the decision to give the Huskies a 3-0 lead. Trailing 4-2 heading into the final 30 seconds of the third period, TJ North got a late takedown but ran out of time dropping the bout 5-4 as Forde earned an extra point with riding time.

The intensity was carried right into the 133-pound bout as Jeremiah Peterson nearly came up with the upset over SCSU’s Andy Pokorny, who is ranked first in the country at 133 pounds. Pokorny led 5-2 with a minute and a half to go in the final period and Peterson managed two takedowns but the Huskies gained a riding time point for the second straight bout for the win. Pokorny won the bout 8-6 to give SCSU a 6-0 lead.

Augustana got on the board in the 133-pound bout when Brandon Charbonneau earned an 8-7 decision over Jay Hildreth to bring the Vikings within three at 6-3. Charbonneau got a takedown just before time expired to secure the victory and put Augustana on the board.

The Vikings tied the dual at 6-6 after Nate Herda, ranked fifth nationally at 149 pounds, earned a 9-5 decision over Jacob D. Horn. Herda led 4-1 after the first period and fought off a late flurry of takedown attempts by Horn for the win.

Augustana jumped out to a 9-6 lead after Shawn Hatlestad won a 5-4 decision over Clint Poster, who is ranked eighth in the country at 157 pounds.

St. Cloud State regained the lead at 10-9 after Gabe Fogarty won a 14-2 major decision over Augustana’s Parker Swanson at 165 pounds. The Huskies added to their lead at 174 pounds with Kurt Salmen earning a 4-2 decision over Tim Weber.

Sean Derry would not go down without a fight at 184 pounds as he dropped a 7-4 decision to Shamus O’Grady, who is ranked second in the country at 184 pounds. With the decision, St. Cloud State took a 16-9 lead into the 197-pound bout.

No. 6 Jayd Docken brought Augustana to within four points (12-16) heading into the final bout of the night. Docken earned a 5-1 decision over Chris Brassell at 197 pounds.

With a four-point deficit heading into the final bout, Augustana came up just short in an upset bid over top-ranked St. Cloud State. Jake Kahnke, ranked second in the country at 285 pounds, won an 8-1 decision over Augustana's Brian Schultz to secure the victory for the Huskies.

Augustana returns to action tomorrow night hosting No. 13-ranked Minnesota State University at 7 p.m. at the Elmen Center.
