Sunday was the second and final day of former Senator George McGovern's estate sale in Sioux Falls.
Even though the conditions outside weren't ideal, that didn't stop people from showing up for a last chance to get their hands on a piece of his legacy.
By early afternoon, much of McGovern's personal items had been sold. Pictures and books that filled the house Saturday were gone, now in the hands of his admirers. His political items were the biggest seller of all as well the books written by the former senator himself. Many items were discounted on Sunday because of the weather, but the turnout was better than expected.
“It's been really good and even today we were a little concerned with the weather, but we've got lots of people again and it's still going! It's been great,” said Deb Sorensen of Finders Keepers Estate Sales.
Any items that were not sold by the end of the sale went back to the family who will decide what to do with them.
