Cause of Fatal House Fire Undetermined

The cause of a Sioux Falls house fire that claimed the lives of three children has been labeled as undetermined.
City Fire Marshal Dean Lanier says investigators could not find evidence of an exact cause. Items that may have been in the area were consumed by the fire and were not distinguishable.
According to SFPD Information Officer Sam Clemens, there was no evidence of drugs or drug paraphernalia at the fire scene.
The fire on 1100 N. Main Street was first reported at 7:59 a.m. on December 22nd. First responders arrived at 8:02 a.m. By that time, fire was visible from the northwest corner of the house.
Fire crews attempted to rescue those on the top floor. They later recovered the three victims from the top floor.
Lanier says that he is not sure where the case will go from this point. Lanier also used this as an opportunity to reiterate the importance of proper fire safety devices, such as smoke detectors, in the home.
Three children, Savannah Coon, 12, Alivia Coon, 6, and Michael Hensley, 16, were killed in the fire.
