The homeless advisory board did their biannual winter count on homeless Tuesday.
Volunteers are going around Sioux Falls to places where the homeless seek shelter or assistance to do the survey. They are asked their situation, and where they are staying.
Although the goal of the count is to find out how many people in Sioux Falls do not have a roof over their heads, coordinators say it is also about making sure they know where they can go.
September’s homeless count found roughly 620 homeless in Sioux Falls.
Coordinators say they expect that number to be less because more people find places to live during the winter.
