A Sioux Falls man was sentenced Wednesday for an armed robbery that took place last spring.
On April 3, 24-year-old Dustin Hockett robbed Boxcars Casino off of east 10th street with a BB gun.
Hockett was sentenced to 15 years in the state penitentiary, with 10 years suspended, meaning he will only have to serve five years. But he will also be eligible for parole in two and a half years.
Hockett’s grandfather believes this is a fair sentence.
"I know he learned his lesson, and when he will get out, he will show his family that he learned his lesson and he will be doing good,” said Ben Westerman.
Hockett and his girlfriend have two young children.
