Wednesday the federal government started accepting 2012 tax returns.
Last minute changes to the IRS computer system delayed the start of the filing season until Wednesday.
Because the IRS is still updating it’s computer system to handle certain forms, there could be delays for
some filers.
Tim Ness of NessTax & Bookkeeping says, “We just learned a couple days ago, that the education credit form can’t be filed with the IRS until mid February. We will have to hold on to those returns and energy credit returns or forms with depreciation until at least mid February possibly into March.”
Once a refund is processed it usually takes about 10 to 21 days.
