South Dakotans Gather To Watch Super Bowl

Bookmark and Share

There were plenty of reasons for the Sioux Empire to come out for the big game.

For many though, neither the San Fransico 49ers for the Baltimore Ravens were their team, but when it came down to it, they had their reasons for rooting for either or.

The Gateway Lounge was packed Sunday evening with people from all over the Sioux Empire. Some sporting their Super Bowl team’s colors- while others where just wearing their favorite teams colors.

Tammy Kercher and her boyfriend drove from Chamberlain to watch the game. She said she was hoping for a win from the 9ers

"I hope they come back and win this game. They've got five super bowls under them, and I'd love to see them make another one, which would be six,” said Tammy Kercher, Chamberlain.

Across the bar, Jake Von was rooting for the Ravens, because they beat his team the Broncos. But said he has another reason for wanting the purple and black to get a win.

“I want Ray Lewis to win another Super Bowl. It's his last season and it should be exciting,” said Jack Von, Harrisburg.

Von also did a little taunting, he said he wanted 49er fans to know Randy Moss is not the best receiver in the NFL.

Both say they were very interested too see the rivalry between the Harbal brothers, Jim and John.
