The Detroit Lions have released veteran defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch. The former West Lyon star went on to play at Nebraska before bursting on the scene in the NFL where he's been a standout with both the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions.
Vanden Bosch had signed a four-year free agent contract with Detroit worth $26 million before the 2010 season. He quickly became a veteran leader on a young and talented Lions team, but the price tag may have been too high this year for the 34-year-old.
Vanden Bosch had 15 ½ sacks in 43 games he played for Detroit and is best known for his constant evergy on the field. He started all 16 games last season in what turned out to be a very disappointing season for the Lions.
