For many South Dakotans, growing up on the farm is nothing unusual. For others, that isn’t always the case.
Back in August, Cindy Teer’s second grade class at Lowell Elementary adopted a farmer. Heidi Selken of Baltic has been teaching the class all about life on a dairy farm ever since.
The kids have learned a lot with this experience, sparking a curiosity in many Sioux Falls children who have never experienced life on the farm.
“They were asking and writing how and when questions. They are just so intrigued with this. They just wait each month for a new video from her and we were so excited to have her come to our school for this,” says Teer.
The program is all part of a partnership with Ag United and Lowell Elementary School.
Teer hopes her class will have the opportunity to visit the dairy farm in Baltic sometime in the spring.
