Dakota State signs 26 football recruits

Bookmark and Share

MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State University head football coach Josh Anderson is pleased to announce the signing of 26 student-athletes for the upcoming 2013 season, including eight transfers.

"As you will see, there are many awards each of these guys have earned throughout their high school and college careers, but what you may not know is that all of them left many awards off their list, choosing to be humble instead," said Anderson.  "I think that is what I like most about this recruiting class. We've never had as much success, locally, as we've had in recruiting this year.  This is also the first time this many quality athletes have committed to us before the National Signing date.  I'm very pleased with the efforts of my coaching staff, our athletes and their parents and all the alumni that have played a role in helping during the recruiting process."

"As usual, we are not done with recruiting yet, but we have already filled some major holes left by our very talented senior class," added Anderson.  "Good things are continuing to happen in our football program all the time and this class of exceptional athletes will only help our efforts to succeed the same way on the field!"

Below is the list of football recruits that committed to the Trojan Football program, thus far, in alphabetical order by last name.  Coach Anderson's comments are italicized (with awards and honors):

Recruits:

Derek Bose, WR – 5'7" – 145 pounds – Brandon Valley High School  - son of Don and Marsha Bose of Brandon, S.D., Coach:  Chad Garrow, Intended Major:  Pre-Chiropractic.  Letter winner in football and track; placed eighth in state powerlifting competition.
"Derek is a shifty wide receiver that plays much bigger than his size. He has been training with DSU All-American wide receiver Tommy Hofer, and it's apparent he's learned a thing or two."

Cody Bunger, FS – 6'2" – 180 pounds – Canistota High School, son of Russell and Kim Bunger of Canistota, S.D., Coach: Lenny Schroeder, Intended Major: Business Marketing.  Two-time Joe Robbie player of the game and two-time Best Back of the game for the back-to-back-to-back State Champion Canistota Hawks; Offensive team MVP; School record holder in passing yards in a season and career, and interceptions in a career; Tied for school record in TD passes in a season.
"Cody has done some incredible things in his time as a starter for the Hawks, and we're all excited about what he is going to do for the Trojans. He is going to add much needed competition at the Free Safety position, immediately."

"Eric has been a four-year starter on defense for a team that has only lost two games during that time, and that was his freshman year. There are many reasons why the Hawks have dominated the gridiron and Eric Tieszen is arguably at the top of that list. We're glad he chose to be a Trojan, just like his father!"

Brady Timmer – WR – 6'5" – 180 pounds – Harrisburg High School - son of Reed and Kelli Timmer of Sioux Falls, S.D., grandparents – Tom & Jeannie Ostrem and Terry & Bev Timmer all of Madison; Coach:  Brandon White, Intended Major:  Business Marketing.  Three-year letter winner; clocked a time of 16.7 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and 43.9 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles; state track meet qualifier.
"Brady has great side-to-side ability and is also very explosive.  Add that with his size and there is nowhere to go but up for Brady. His Madison roots run deep as both of his parents and all of his grandparents are from Madison. His uncle also played for the Trojans in the early 1990's. It's a great feeling to add him to our Trojan family as well."
