Blizzard watches are in effect for most of eastern South Dakota this weekend, leaving some people scrambling to do some last minute shopping, stocking up on essentials to make it through the storm.
"Of course I got some snack items which you never have enough of. I got pretzels," said Mohamad.
Naveen Mohamad, came to Hy-Vee on a mission Friday night, to stock up on food to feed her son and husband throughout a weekend of blizzard watches.
"It's just something about being stuck in doors that psychologically, it makes a person just want to run to the grocery store," said Mohamad.
However, not everyone is concerned about the weather warnings.
I'm not worried. I supply my daily needs, I'm ok," said Mason.
Beverly Mason has been a Flandreau resident for the past 19 years.
Mason said she’ll be working throughout the weekend, but she has a plan to make sure her household is taken care of during the stormy weather.
"I'll prepare a meal Saturday night so they'll be able to eat Sunday in case they get trapped in," said Mason.
We're talking some warm and hearty food.
“Probably a ham, mashed potatoes, green beans and macaroni and cheese," said Mason.
For Mason and Mohamad, wicked weather could be used as excuses to eat and lounge around.
"I want the family to be warm and nurtured," said Mason.
"Safety is definitely number one and staying in doors and making the best out of it," said Mohamad.
A lot of people said they're hoping for a good amount of snow this weekend.
The storm is supposed to start Saturday night and last through mid-day Monday.
