South Dakota legislative leaders decided Saturday to push back next week's sessions a day because of a large winter storm threatening the area.
The Legislative Research Council made the announcement after a meeting of legislative leaders on Saturday.
The council says the four-day session will be shifted to Tuesday through Friday instead of Monday through Thursday for the coming week.
Many lawmakers, lobbyists, interns and pages typically travel to Pierre on Sundays.
Council executive director Jim Fry says the priority is safety and keeping people off hazardous roads.
