Several new honors for Nate Wolters!

The Summit League named South Dakota State point guard Nate Wolters its player of the week on Monday after a record-breaking weekend on the road that saw him set SDSU single-game records with 53 points and nine 3-pointers on Thursday at Fort Wayne, and break the SDSU career assists record on Saturday at Oakland.

"It was certainly a historic weekend for him in terms of scoring and even though that's a lot of points, it isn't something that comes as a surprise, just knowing how much time he's put in they gym and how hard he's worked," head coach Scott Nagy said. "In terms of what he did, particularly on the offensive end, I think what most don't see is what he does for us defensively and I think that he's been a great defender this year. People just don't get to see that and notice those things"

Wolters garnered his 13th career accolade and fifth of the season after a record-setting performance. Against Fort Wayne, Wolters 53 points represents an NCAA season-best scoring performance and a Summit League record for a regulation game.

In amassing the highest NCAA point total since 2009, Wolters converted 17-of-28 field goal attempts, including 9-of-14 three-point attempts, and 10-of-11 free throws in South Dakota State's victory.

Two days later, Wolters put up 36 points to go along with seven assists and six rebounds at Oakland. In that contest, he made 12-of-20 from the field, including a trio of triples, and converted all nine free throw attempts.

For the week, Wolters averaged 44.5 points, five assists and five rebounds per game while shooting 60.4 percent (29-48) overall, 52.2 percent (12-23) from beyond the arc, and 95 percent (19-20) from the free throw line.

In addition to his Summit League accolades, ESPN named Wolters its Player of the Week, as did College Sports Madness.

Fans can also vote for Wolters as the Capital One Performer of the Week on ESPN.com.

The Jackrabbit senior from St. Cloud, Minn., erupted for his 53 points on the same day that he learned of becoming a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award. To cast your vote for Wolters as the 2013 Bob Cousy Award Winner, simply log onto CousyAward.com.
