DeJong is national NAIA Player of the Week

(Kansas City, Missouri) - Kendra De Jong of Northwestern (Iowa) has been named the NAIA National Division II Women's Basketball Player of tNews Photohe Week, the national office announced Tuesday. De Jong was selected based on her performances from Feb. 4 - Feb. 10 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated group winners.

 

De Jong, a 6-foot forward, averaged 23.0 points, 14.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game to lead the Red Raiders to a perfect 2-0 week. On Feb. 6 against Mount Marty (S.D.), De Jong recored her seventh double-double of the season, tallying a game-high 24 points and collecting 11 boards In Northwestern's 80-54 victory. She recorded six assists and shot 11-of-16 from the floor. The senior from Hopers, Iowa followed that performance with her eighth double-double of the season in a 70-65 victory against Doane (Neb.). De Jong scored a team-high 22 points and 13 boards. She was 12-of-12 from the free throw line and recorded three steals.

Nationally, De Jong ranks seventh in total rebounds per game (9.9), tenth in total rebounds (248), 19th in field goal percentage (0.521) and 22nd in points per game (17.08).
