In this town (Mitchell) this name carries great expectations....
ANNOUNCER..."Number 23, Macy Miller!"
....and you might not find a better person to face them than Macy Miller.
"Um, I don't know I just come out every game and play as hard as I can.." Miller says.
"Macy's kind of a card. I don't think really anything sticks to her. I think everything she does is just, have a lot of fun. And I don't know, I haven't seen the kid nervous yet, you know, even as a freshman she wanted to shoot the free throws at the end of the game." Mitchell Head Coach Wes Morgan says.
The Mitchell junior is the first cousin of the Miami Heat's Mike Miller and daughter of Alan Miller, Dakota Wesleyan's all-time leading scorer.
"He just tells me every game to play hard and play with confidence and your shots will come." Macy says.
And Macy's done just that.
Despite a torn ACL in her sophomore year she's scored more than one-thousand points in her career.
"You know, she's just a smart player. I mean, she's a role player. She'll pass it, she can do anything, I think it's just fun (playing with her)" Kerri Young says.
"It was pretty tough, I just rehabed really hard." Miller says of her injury.
"She makes it look easy but it's not. She does a lot of things out there. Those things that you take for granted, they're not as easy as they look." Morgan says.
In two years Macy will join Kerri at South Dakota State.....
"I think it's going to be fun. We'll be reliving the dreams that we did in high school." Young Says.
...until then, Miller will try help get some new banners up in the Corn Palace.
