Ceremony In Sioux Falls Honors Veterans

Bookmark and Share

A ceremony aimed to raise awareness about job creation for Veterans took place at the South Dakota Army National Guard Theater Tuesday.

Many speakers took part in the event, including U.S. Representative Kristi Boem, who said says 20 % of the homeless population in South Dakota are Veterans.

Esurance officials, such as Allen Meil, vice president of customer service, talked about EVETS, an employee resource group that provides support, creates career development opportunities and promotes awareness of Veterans' issues and concerns.

"Very focused about taking care of our Veteran Associates, but also bringing in new Veteran employees in and helping them find careers post military life," said Meil.

EVETS has also partnered up with Goodwill to help Veterans, offering different programs for such as supplying Veterans clothes for interview opportunities.
