Beer, wine and liquor are flying off the shelves at a Des Moines store as a winter storm begins to bear down on Iowa.
Wine specialist Bjorn Carlson says the store, Ingersoll Wine and Spirits, has had a higher number of customers than usual by Thursday afternoon. Cases of wine and beer have been popular, as well as bottles of scotch and whiskey.
Customers were still heading into the shop as snow began to fall in Des Moines. Carlson says they expect to stay open until 8 p.m.
He noted, "A lot of people have been buying liquor to curl up by the fire."
