The month of February is American Heart month and all month long the American Heart Association has been raising awareness about the number one killer of women through their Go Red For Women Campaign.
On Friday, the American Heart Association South Dakota, along with Sanford Health, held a Go Red for Women Luncheon to celebrate the success of their campaign. The luncheon was for women and men in the community committed to fighting heart disease. Attendees heard from survivors and heart health experts and learned more about the overall mission of the campaign.
"It's a good opportunity for people to learn a little bit about the Go Red for Women Movement and this year we are going to celebrate 10 years at the Go Red For Women Luncheon,” said Chrissy Meyer of the American Heart Association, South Dakota.
Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether and Congresswoman Kristi Noem were speakers at the event.
