Family Park in Sioux Falls was swarming with ice fishing amateurs on Saturday.
Th Outdoor Campus partnered with the Sioux Falls Public Library to teach free ice fishing classes to first time fisherman. A group of about a dozen children and adults huddled on the ice using the skills they learned to catch some fish. Instructors held a class earlier in the week at the library to teach newcomers the basics of ice fishing, the rules in South Dakota as well as ice safety.
“We taught them some signs of frostbite or hypothermia if that is coming on, what happens if you do fall in the water and we showed them a video on how to get out and proper techniques,” said Patrick Klotzbach, with The Outdoor Campus.
