Those for and against the passing of a bill that would extend the amount of time women have to wait to get an abortion let their voices be heard Tuesday.
A couple dozen people gathered outside of the federal courthouse in downtown Sioux Falls to protest house bill 1237.
If passed the bill would make it so holidays and the weekend are not included in the 72-hour wait period a woman already has to wait before getting an abortion.
Those for the bill say not including those days will give women more time to make a life impacting decision.
While those who are against it say legislators need to listen to South Dakota voters who have already voted no against the change twice.
The house passed the bill and it set to be heard by the Senate State Affairs Committee Wednesday.
