Augie Needs Balance To Beat NSU

Bookmark and Share

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. ---  The NSIC Quarterfinals tip off tomorrow and perhaps the best game in the men's tournament features Augustana visiting Northern State.

The Vikings will probably need a little more than Cam McCaffery heroics to beat the second seeded Wolves.

Augie got an historic performance from Cam in their 89-81 first round win over UM-Duluth Wednesday night.

McCaffery scored 30 points and became Augustana's all-time leading scorer.  Still, McCaffery knows they'll need balance to win in Aberdeen.

"You can see as the year has gone on, early in the year it was kind of more like they were learning and a lot of the games I was just the only guy really scoring the points.  Now as the year's gone on it's become more of a team effort every game and I think that's a big part of our success."  McCaffery says.

"They aren't young anymore.  They've got sophomore minutes, you know they've played a lot of minutes.  So it's time for them to play like sophomores and I think they are for the most part."  Augie Head Coach Tom Billeter says.

Tip at the Barnett Center is scheduled for 4 PM.  We'll have highlights on KDLT News and on our website, KDLT.com.
