Bookmark and Share

DES MOINES, IA --  Central Lyon's first appearance at the Iowa Girls Basketball State Tournament will be tough to top in years to come.

Central Lyon survived a furious Newell-Fonda rally in the Class 1A State Championship game, winning 63-61 when Renee Maneman's halfcourt shot fell short.

Central Lyon had led by 15 with just over seven minutes to play in the fourth quarter.  Newell-Fonda went on a 15-1 run and twice pulled to within a point.

Kori Schulte was Central Lyon's top scorer with 15 points.  Siblings Lexi and Kelsey Ackerman added 12 and 11 points.
