South Dakota’s Governor has joined the fight to save Olympic wrestling.
Governor Dennis Daugaard teamed up with 32 other governors wanting to keep wrestling as an Olympic sport.
The group sent a letter to International Olympic Committee Executive Board President Dr. Jacques Rogge asking them to reinstate wrestling.
Governor Daugaard said that wrestling is an important sport in South Dakota. He mentioned the athletes that South Dakota has sent to wrestle in the Olympics, including Randy Lewis of Rapid City, who won a gold medal in 1984.
