SD State Prison Inmate Dies

The South Dakota Department of Corrections said a state prison inmate died this evening.

Jon Kendall, who was 48, passed away in a comfort care setting at the State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls this evening.

Kendall was sentenced in December 2012 from Brown County to three concurrent five-year sentences for Possession of Child Pornography.

The Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating, which is standard procedure in the death of an inmate.

An autopsy is being conducted.
