Students from Lincoln High School are granting a former classmates last wish, and they are asking for the communities help.
Two years ago Jorgen Yde passed away from acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Yde asked family and friends to start a foundation to help fund research for leukemia as well as provide help for those affected by it.
Now peers of Yde are coming together to raise money for what they call the JY6000 Fundraiser.
Yde would have graduated in May.
"We always said 'JY6 Stay Strong,' because his baseball number was number six. And so I was just throwing numbers out, like I hope we get $4,000 this year, and they were like well, JY6,000, we have to get 6,000. So it’s a little ambitious, but its what we are going for,” said Liz Magnuson, Community Service Coordinator, Lincoln High School.
Last year students raised $2,000.
