Rescue crews continue to search for 2 people who are missing after they went into the water at Falls Park. Witnesses on the scene say three people, including a 4 year old boy, initially fell into the water. Bystanders at Falls Park say the 4 year old boy was able to get back on shore. Rescue Crews are battling thick foam and ice as they search to find 2 people who have not been located.
Sioux Falls Fire Chief Jim Sideras says an emergency call came in just after 6 p.m. Thursday reporting that a 4-year-old boy had fallen into the river in Falls Park. The caller then said two adults who had rescued the boy went underwater just downriver from the waterfalls. Sideras says the water temperature is hovering around freezing. He says crews also are working against the river's strong current and lots of foam, which firefighters are trying to blow away.
The surrounding park, a city tourist attraction, has been roped off with police tape. Sideras says the boy's condition and the adults' identities weren't immediately known.
