Brandon Valley Upsets Roosevelt, Pierre Downs Lincoln

SIOUX FALLS -- One top seed at the Class AA Boy's State Basketball Tournament survived an upset bid. The other did not.
Top-seed Roosevelt, who entered the tournament 22-1 with no losses to South Dakota teams, was stunned by streaking Brandon Valley 57-51. The Lynx, who lost to Roosevelt 82-55 in Brandon on December 15th, got 15 points from Nic Peterson, 14 from Jacob Adams, and 10 from Chase Marso.
Lincoln and Pierre went back and forth in the late game. A three-point play from Pierre's Zach Hanson tied the game at 45 in the final minute and, after several Pierre free throws, a game-winning halfcourt shot from Adam Jaros (16 points) fell short, giving Pierre a 47-45 win. Hanson led all scorers with 21 points.
