The second phase of restoring a Rapid City home with more 100 years of history behind it is under way.
Walls have been put up on the 1880s home built by former Rapid City Mayor Valentine McGillycuddy to hold the roof.
A group of historic preservation advocates is leading the restoration project. The Historic Rapid City committee hopes to raise the back roof at least eight feet and eventually add a second story to the home.
The second phase of the restoration should be complete in about two weeks.
Historic Rapid City Vice President Gavin Williams says once the house is completed, they hope to use it to house and preserve the city's history.
